Women on Board

The “Women on Board” project, led by the Euro-Med Feminist Initiative under the larger initiative “Supporting Political Transition in Syria through Gender-Sensitive Social Reconstruction,” is a transformative program focused on empowering grassroots feminist groups in Lebanon. Funded by the Swedish International Development and Cooperation Agency (SIDA), this program emphasizes supporting feminist organizations, particularly within the Syrian refugee community, equipping them with the tools and resources needed to drive impactful change.

Our Mission

The Women on Board project was founded on the belief that meaningful social reconstruction in regions affected by conflict must be inclusive and gender-sensitive. By investing in feminist organizations at the grassroots level, this initiative seeks to amplify voices, foster inclusive communities, and empower women to lead in rebuilding society from within.

Our Approach

The program’s unique approach involves a comprehensive support structure designed to enhance the growth, impact, and sustainability of feminist organizations. The project supports these groups through:

  • Specialized Training: Workshops and training sessions are tailored to enhance skills in leadership, advocacy, and strategic planning. These training opportunities empower feminist groups with the knowledge and confidence to spearhead change in their communities.

  • Network Building: A key element of Women on Board is fostering connections between organizations, activists, and supporters. By facilitating collaboration, we create a stronger, unified voice for gender equality, allowing groups to share resources, best practices, and collectively address shared challenges.

  • Fundraising Support: Financial sustainability is crucial for grassroots organizations. The program provides hands-on support in designing effective fundraising strategies, helping feminist groups access resources essential to achieving their missions.

  • Scalability and Growth Strategies: Empowering these organizations to grow their reach and impact is fundamental to our mission. Through guidance on scalability, the program equips feminist groups with strategies that enable sustainable expansion, so they can continue to serve their communities effectively in the long term.

    Impact on the Ground

Women on Board has already had a significant impact on feminist organizations working within the Syrian refugee community in Lebanon. With the support of this program, these organizations have strengthened their capacity to advocate for women’s rights, fostered resilient communities, and advanced gender equality on a broader scale. The results are tangible in the form of empowered leaders, strong community networks, and sustainable organizations ready to drive forward the movement for women’s rights.
